About Us

We are centered on the pursuit of Fellowship, Education and Philanthropy. Since 1977, the Northeastern Chemical Association has supported educational pursuits through scholarships and endowments. Recipients are focused on institutions located in the Northeastern United States, as well as Canada. Its membership fees and revenues from its quarterly events are the basis for the association’s financial ability to support its scholarships and endowments.

"What began in New York City as a small group and a single scholarship in 1977 has grown to an organization of several hundred members throughout the US and Canada."

Dear NECA Members and Friends,

Welcome to the new Northeast Chemical Association website. NECA is an organization founded by petrochemical industry members in 1977 to philanthropically support endowments and scholarships for chemistry and chemical engineering students while providing members and colleagues throughout the industry opportunities to network and collaborate at events throughout the year.

In recent years, NECA has branched out to host events in Houston as well as our traditional locations in the Philadelphia-New York area. We held a successful event in March at the Art of Cellaring in Houston and it was great to see around 200 industry friends gather. Check out photos from this event and other past events here on our website under Past Events.

Our next event is at the Renault Winery and Resort in Egg Harbor, New Jersey on May 23 (near Atlantic City). Registration is open for that -- and please mark your calendars for our Fall Event back in Houston on September 11 and our annual holiday luncheon in New York City on December 12. Details and registration will be up on the website soon.

All net proceeds from our events support our scholarships and endowments, as do the annual membership fees.  If you have already renewed your membership, thank you. If you are a lapsed member, please log in and renew your membership. If you have not joined NECA previously or are new to the industry, come join us by applying in the Membership section of the website. If you may have been a member years ago and no longer have an active account, applying for a new Membership is also the best way to reinstate you.

I’d like to thank our officers, board members, committee and event chairs for their work to support our organization. I am honored to serve the industry as NECA President with such a fine roster of industry professionals. If you have an interest in serving on a committee or assisting with an event, or have suggestions to improve the events, we would love to hear from you. Contact me or any Board officer through our website under the officer listing page.

Best Regards,

Matt Rush
